This is a Jedi-like tip. People love to talk about themselves. But, don’t be the first one to talk about yourself.
Instead, start off asking the person you meet about them. Where they’re from. What they do? How business has been going this year. You get the idea.
The “Law of Reciprocity” kicks in…and they will feel compelled to ask you about you, too. Then, say what you want.
Doing it in this order puts you in control of the conversation from the start. It endears the person to you. And, you’re off to a great start in building a professional business relationship.
